Gloria Cangahuala

Gloria Cangahuala has been playing piano and violin since the age of four. She has a B.S. in Management Information Technology and a Minor in Music from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she was Associate Concertmaster of the MIT Symphony and Concertmaster of both the MIT Chamber Orchestra and MIT Music Theater Pit Orchestra. She also holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

As violinist she performs with chamber groups and the Claremont Symphony Orchestra, of which she has been Concertmaster since 2009. Prior to joining CSO she was a violinist with the Santa Monica Symphony.

As pianist she performs with chamber groups and has numerous engagements throughout the Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley as collaborative pianist. Her solo performances include Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with CSO in 2011 and Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor with CSO in 2005.

Gloria is also a member of the Pomona Valley Musicians' Club, for which she performs both violin and piano on a regular basis. A prolific composer, Gloria has written many songs and psalm settings for Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Claremont, where she is pianist, violinist, and cantor.

Gloria has been Manager of the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra since 2014 and is webmaster for both CSO (www.claremontso.org) and CYSO (www.claremontyouthsymphony.org).
